Job summary

Duke Health seeks a Clinical Nurse for the Vascular Surgery Office Based Lab in Raleigh, NC. You will be responsible for clinical nursing care, patient education, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

The role requires a BSN or ADN, RN licensure in NC (compact accepted), at least 12 months of relevant experience, and BLS certification. Day shift, 10-hour days, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited BSN or AD nursing program.
• Current or compact RN licensure in NC. BLS required.
• Twelve months of clinical nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide and document professional nursing care in ambulatory interventional setting.
• Administer medications per orders or protocols following six rights.
• Collect and analyse patient data in Angiography and pre/post-op areas.
• Develop and communicate nursing care plans and patient education.
• Assist in procedures/surgery and support other nursing staff.
• May float to sister Raleigh Vascular clinic and participate in professional development.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE in our Vascular Surgery Office Based Lab located in Raleigh, NC to be accountable for clinical expertise for specific patient populations. The incumbent functions as a clinician, educator, investigator, consultant, and leader. Clinical judgments are based on a synthesis of current research, concepts, principles, theories, and outcomes to solve complex problems. The incumbent functions as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, contributing to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and in providing leadership to the organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, provide and document professional nursing care in an ambulatory interventional setting, utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the nurse manager, charge nurse or Practice Administrator.
• Administer medications, to patients as ordered by providers or by established protocols following the six rights of medication administration.
• Collect and analyze patient data in all areas of Angiography including pre-op and recovery areas.
• Make recommendations for nursing care plans, evaluate nursing care provided, document and communicate appropriate nursing actions taken, patient responses and patient education.
• Assist in procedures/surgery as needed.
• Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care.
• May be required float to another clinic especially our sister clinic at Raleigh Vascular.
• Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
• Support the development of other staff and formal learners. Participate in the identification of clinical, operational and safety related performance improvement opportunities.
• Preparing patients for clinic visits to include routine office visits and clinic procedures.
• Triage RN duties may include but not limited to:
  • Managing the clinic Nurse Triage Line
  • Collect and analyze patient data based on information gathered from parent or caregiver via the telephone.
  • Communicate with patient's medical provider regarding questions or concerns from parent or caregiver.
  • Communicate with other members of the patient's care team when necessary.

Job Eligibility Requirements:

• Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.
  • Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification
• Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
• Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.

Job Schedule:

The schedule for this position is day shift scheduled 4 week days per week as 10 hour shifts
