Job summary

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is seeking a Clinical Nurse II for the Med/Surg units. The role provides direct patient care, performs physical assessments, administers medications, and educates patients and families on discharge planning.

The nurse collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality care in a busy hospital setting. The position requires BSN preferred, one year of acute care experience, and certifications such as BLS (ACLS for GI Lab).

Qualifications

• GI Lab: Moderate Sedation experience required.
• Previous GI nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on Medical/Surgical units.

This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Additionally, the Clinical Nurse II meets the requirements outlined in the Clinical Ladder program respective to his/her department. The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates a commitment to hospital involvement and professional growth by participating in committees, attending related meetings, and presenting education projects and/or supplemental activities.

For Outpatient Treatment Infusion Centers (Oncology and Non-Oncology) Administers Chemotherapy/Biotherapy/Immunotherapy.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Clinical Nurse II’s at Magnet designated facilities only require a BSN or that a BSN program is started within one year of hire date and BSN degree is attained within two years of starting the BSN program.
• BSN preferred.
• One year experience in an acute care hospital required.
• GI Lab: Moderate Sedation experience required. Previous GI nursing experience preferred.

License Required

• Registered Nurse in the State of California - Current and in good standing.

License Preferred

Certifications Required

• BLS certification prior to clinical rotation.
• Department specific certification requirements are as follows:
