The ED has 45 rooms, including 5 barco-lounger spaces for lower acuity patients. It is divided into five zones: Major trauma and critical care, Resuscitation and minor care, Pediatrics, Acute care, and Rapid Care. The department includes clinical and clerical workstations, nutrition areas, supply and pharmaceutical dispensing machines, a dedicated radiology suite with 2 CTs, a DECONTAMINATION suite with a separate entrance, and a satellite lab. A Level II Pediatric Emergency Department with additional facilities is planned to open in 2017.

Patients are initially evaluated at triage; EMS arrivals are directed to appropriate care rooms during peak hours. Psychiatric and burn patients are referred to specialized centers as needed.
