• Education contact hours required annually.

• Minimum 18 months of clinical experience for advancement.

Job description

Responsibilities

The Ambulatory Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age and type of patient population served in the assigned departments. She/he ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standards of care. She/he demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, vision and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats patients, families, staff, and physicians with respect and consideration.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Licensed in the State of Maryland as a Registered Nurse
• Successful completion of required hospital, nursing and unit orientation, including but not limited to medication certification
• Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures
• Knowledgeable and sensitive to patient’s rights in the delivery of care
• Communicates in a clear, concise manner appropriate to the developmental stage of the population served
• Prefer recent appropriate nursing practice in the patient population areas to be served
• Ability to learn and use computer systems to manage patient information
• Education contact hours required annually, excluding mandatory hospital education requirements
• Current certification in ACLS for PACU or eligible for completion of course within six (6) months from date of position; certification in specialty is preferred
• Must have a minimum of eighteen (18) months of clinical experience to apply for advancement
