The general medical unit is one of four medical surgical units that provide care to a highly diverse population with diagnoses of heart failure, sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, COVID and patients with multiple co-morbidities. Patients have multiple medical diagnoses offering a variety of healthcare experiences for nurses. Medical Surgical Nurses develop a well-rounded knowledge base and are able to care for a wide range of different patients. The wide range of diagnoses coupled with the Care in Place model makes for a highly satisfying specialty. Nurses have the experience of caring for patients holistically and interact with multiple disciplines to navigate their patients through the hospital stay. They strive to provide an exceptional experience every time to patients and their families.
