Overview

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital serves families in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren counties. It is a 102-bed community hospital offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including specialized centers such as the Siteman Cancer Center, Breast Health and Women’s Center, Cardiology Center, Neurosurgery Center, and Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.

The hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Level II stroke certification. It also houses medical offices for various specialists and outpatient services like physical therapy, sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

1. Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
2. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
3. Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patients, families, or caregivers, following established guidelines and standards.
4. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, values, and cultural backgrounds.
5. This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is essential.
