Job Description
The Clinical Nurse Educator embodies NM's mission, vision, and values, adhering to our Code of Ethics and Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
This role functions as an educator, consultant, role model, advocate, change agent, and leader. Collaborating with nursing leadership, peers, mentors, quality teams, and the NM Academy, the educator designs, develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs aimed at improving clinical care and outcomes. The role also involves mentoring staff to elevate practice standards and develop leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Onboarding & Competency:
    • Develop, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate onboarding and competency programs.
    • Conduct onboarding, training, and competency assessments for new and existing staff.
    • Establish initial competencies and reinforce onboarding activities.
    • Evaluate staff orientation and identify further instructional needs.
    • Coordinate annual competency evaluations at the practice level.
  2. Professional Development:
    • Identify educational needs, develop evidence-based adult education strategies, and implement them.
    • Facilitate clinical staff education for system initiatives.
    • Maintain educational program records, and promote ongoing staff competence.
    • Conduct learning needs assessments.
    • Provide feedback on clinical competency and support staff development.
    • Support critical thinking and develop mentors/preceptors.
    • Participate in quality assurance, policy development, and curriculum development.
  3. Quality Improvement:
    • Ensure regulatory compliance and quality metrics are met.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline work and improve workflow.
    • Participate in quality and safety initiatives, monitor nursing indicators, and contribute to research dissemination.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Registered Professional Nurse (IL) or eligible.
  • Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association).
  • Master of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a related Master's degree (or at least 50% completion).
  • Minimum 2 years relevant clinical experience.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate educational plans based on adult learning principles.

Preferred:

  • Certification in a related specialty or education (willing to obtain).
  • Ambulatory care experience.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
