Job summary

Methodist Healthcare System is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator in Med Surg ICU to influence patient care and coordinate all unit activities. You’ll collaborate with management to direct nursing care, support staff, and uphold safety and regulatory standards.

The CNC will lead scheduling, ensure quality outcomes, and participate in community and hospital initiatives, contributing to an exceptional patient experience and clinical performance.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN license.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical RN experience required.
  • 2–5 years ICU RN experience highly preferred.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver high quality, patient-centered care.

  • Assists with staff scheduling. Manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines. Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
  • Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
  • Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
About the Unit
  • 13 bed Medical Surgical ICU
  • Caring for patients with respiratory diagnoses, high level of oxygen requirements, septic patients, GI patients with infections, DKA, stroke, seizure, medical/surgical oncology, and overflow cardio
  • Patient to Nurse ratio 2:1
  • Proficiency training for specialty equipment
  • Experienced charge nurses and unit leadership
  • Offering new to specialty orientation for experienced nurses with progressive care backgrounds
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse required
  • 2-5 years of ICU experience as a licensed Registered Nurse highly preferred
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License required (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required
