Clinical Nurse Coordinator - ICU -- ICU MEDICAL -- Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital

Under the direction of the Nurse Director, the CNC is responsible for the direction and coordination of all functions in the unit during his/her shift, including ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care provided. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator is the resource for staff, assisting with educational needs as they arise; they are responsible for the overall quality of nursing care while on duty. Decisions are made in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team following Standards of Nursing care, Human Resources, and Mon Health policies and procedures. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will support the mission and vision of Mon Health System.

Responsibilities

  • General/Problem Solving: Supervises personnel providing direct patient care, effectively addressing issues and solving problems utilizing professional judgment. Provides supervision of staff, including conflict resolution. Manages stressful situations calmly.
  • Clinical Excellence: Facilitates performance improvement activities, maintains high standards of care, and ensures compliance with Core Measures. Collects and reports data, conducts environment of care reviews to meet TJC standards.
  • Employee and Physician Engagement: Leads, coaches, develops, and recognizes staff to maximize performance and growth. Leads peer interviews and makes staffing recommendations.
  • Service Excellence: Leads by example, holds staff accountable to ICARE values, participates in nurse leader rounding, and leads shift huddles. Validates staff competence in key communication and care practices.
  • Finance: Manages staff productivity, equipment, and supplies, ensuring appropriate staffing levels.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Frequent lifting of objects up to 10 lbs., maximum 25 lbs.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience on the unit; leadership/management experience preferred.
  • Understanding staffing matrix, acuity, productivity standards, and commitment to patient safety and service excellence.
  • Good organizational skills, sound judgment, and professional communication.

Education & Credentials

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (required during orientation).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (required during orientation).
