Role Overview

The Staff Nurse Inpatient reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Interacts effectively with patients, families, and health team members, maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.

Responsibilities

1. Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements individualized care plans, and evaluates progress.
2. Directs care and utilizes assistants involved in patient care.
3. Collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and staff; documents care plans focused on outcomes.
4. Participates in shared governance, committees, and projects.
5. Evaluates and documents patient responses to interventions; individualizes care plans based on findings.
6. Uses evidence-based practices to guide clinical decisions.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current Illinois RN license
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Analytic abilities
• Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) accepted with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years

Additional requirements for specific units:

• Emergency Room: ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year
• Pediatric ER: Pediatric Advanced Life Support, TNCC within one year
• Non-Invasive Cardiology: ACLS preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in specific clinical areas
• Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS)
• Emergency Communications RN
• Certified Pediatric Nurse
• Certified Emergency Nurse
