Clinical Nurse - Avondale Emergency Department

Phoenix Children's is seeking experienced, compassionate, and motivated RNs to join our Emergency Department team in Avondale, AZ. This newly opened 40-bed, level IV trauma ED in the Southwest Valley provides high-quality, family-centered care for a wide range of diagnoses, illnesses, and injuries. RNs collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver care, with clinical leadership available during both day and night shifts. The environment requires strong critical thinking, decision-making skills, excellent communication, and teamwork. Previous pediatric ED, acute, or critical care experience is preferred. This is a full-time night position (7 pm - 7:30 am). New graduate RNs are not eligible; please apply to the RN-New Grad opening if applicable.

This role involves working with the healthcare team, patients, and families to promote health through professional nursing care aligned with patients' age and condition, following evidence-based standards and hospital policies.

Position Duties
  1. Complete nursing assessments based on patient age and condition, including physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors, to evaluate initial treatment plan compliance and ongoing needs.
  2. Continuously evaluate patient responses, document progress, and communicate findings with the healthcare team and families to ensure understanding and appropriate care adjustments.
  3. Contribute to team efforts by performing activities within established guidelines, ensuring compliance with medication, storage, and documentation standards.
  4. Provide orientation to patients and families about hospital policies and unit processes.
  5. Supervise and delegate patient care activities to team members, providing feedback to maintain safety, infection control, and performance standards.
  6. Collaborate with the care team and families to develop and implement care plans, participating in rounds and conferences as needed.
  7. Model best practices and patient-centered care, mentoring students and new staff to foster a positive learning environment.
  8. Perform additional duties as required.
