Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital (South Campus) Acute Care Medicine unit 5200 is seeking a full-time RN for night shifts. This 17-bed unit requires 12-hour shifts from 7pm to 7am and operates on a schedule including every third weekend.

Qualifications

• Education Nursing Diploma or Associate's in Nursing.
• RN licensure in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and families on illness management, home care needs and medication administration.
• Ensures patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Develops and documents plans of care with interprofessional team and patient/family.
• Communicates care plans across the continuum of care.
• Performs nursing duties with adherence to standards of care.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.


• Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.


• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.


• Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
