Position Overview

Pennsylvania Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our SICU team. This is a full-time, night shift opportunity.

The Beacon Award Winning (Silver Level) Critical Care Complex at Pennsylvania Hospital comprises two units: The Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). Under one leadership team, they provide care to the highest acuity medical and surgical patients at the hospital.

The critical care nursing team collaborates with an interdisciplinary team including providers, respiratory therapists, social workers, pharmacists, and rehab therapists to deliver quality care. The team also responds to emergencies hospital-wide as part of rapid response and code teams. Teamwork is a core value of our nursing staff.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care as a full partner on the healthcare team, demonstrating safe practices within organizational standards.
  • Apply nursing knowledge, skills, and attitude to meet professional practice standards.
  • Work independently to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, accepting accountability for assigned patients across all age groups.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement, evidence-based practice, leadership, family-centered care, professionalism, safety, informatics, and teamwork.
  • Coordinate care with the interprofessional team to ensure comprehensive patient management.
  • Seek and provide feedback to improve clinical practice and demonstrate how nursing impacts organizational goals.
Credentials
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Pennsylvania required.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 months relevant professional nursing experience and completion of Nurse Residency Program, if applicable.
