Unit Description

7 Cathcart/Preston is a 60-bed medical-surgical unit caring for post-operative surgical patients and those with neurological conditions, including joint replacements, neurosurgical procedures, bariatric surgery, and stroke recovery.

Role Summary

• The Clinical Nurse 2 practices as a full partner on the healthcare team, demonstrating safe and competent nursing practice.
• Provides patient care applying the nursing process, with accountability for assigned patients across all ages.
• Engages in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, leadership, and teamwork to enhance patient outcomes.
• Works collaboratively with the interprofessional team to coordinate care and expand clinical skills.

Responsibilities

• Utilize data and quality improvement methods to enhance care safety, timeliness, efficiency, effectiveness, and equity.
• Evaluate and incorporate current evidence into clinical practice, respecting patient and family preferences.
• Collaborate and apply systems thinking to promote effective care and organizational goals.
