Summary:

  • The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice is a newly licensed RN or RN with less than 15 months of experience. They demonstrate basic safe practice, seek guidance to integrate knowledge, and work closely with the healthcare team to provide individualized patient care across all ages. They focus on developing skills to care for increasingly complex patients and must complete all competencies to advance to the Clinical Nurse 2 level within 18 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize data and quality improvement methods to ensure safe, timely, effective, and equitable care.
  • Evaluate and incorporate current evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences for optimal care.
  • Collaborate and apply systems thinking to promote effective changes within the care system.
  • Recognize patients as full partners in care, respecting their preferences and needs.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through lifelong learning and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Minimize risks of harm through effective systems and individual performance.

Credentials:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • BLS/CPR as a healthcare provider (Required)
  • Registered Nurse license in PA (Required)

Education or Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree (Required)
  • Less than 15 months of experience required
