We are seeking new to practice or experienced RNs to join our Gateway to OR at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
Procedures performed in the Surgical Services Department include general, ENT, spinal, ophthalmic, oral, cardiac (including robotic), thoracic (including robotic), trauma, neurosurgery, vascular, urological (including robotic), orthopedic, pain management, podiatric, plastic, oral, maxillofacial, and gynecological operations.
The Clinical Nurse 1 - New to Practice/Apprentice is a newly licensed RN or RN with less than 15 months of experience demonstrating basic safe practice within the organizational professional practice model. The nurse seeks guidance to integrate concepts, knowledge, skills, and attitudes to meet professional standards.
They are accountable for providing direct care to patients across the lifespan, demonstrating competencies in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, leadership, family-centered care, professionalism, safety, teamwork, and informatics.
The nurse works closely with the interprofessional team to coordinate care and develop individualized care plans considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-related factors.
They require mentorship and feedback to care for increasingly complex patients and must comply with all relevant regulations and standards. The goal is to advance to the Clinical Nurse 2 level within 18 months.
BLS/CPR certification as a healthcare provider per the American Heart Association is required at hire. Pennsylvania RN license or Temporary Practice Permit is also required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school is required. Less than 15 months of RN experience qualifies for the Clinical Nurse 1 level.
