Hospital of University of Pennsylvania (HUP) - Neuro ICU Nurse

The HUP is seeking a Neuro ICU Clinical Nurse for our 22-bed neuro intensive care unit, which has received multiple awards for patient care and teamwork. Care is provided to patients with conditions including vascular diseases such as subarachnoid hemorrhage. Apply today to learn more.

Summary
  • The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice is a newly licensed RN or RN with less than 15 months of experience. This role involves demonstrating basic safe practice within the organizational professional practice model, seeking guidance to integrate concepts, knowledge, skills, and attitudes to meet professional nursing standards, and exhibiting UPHS organizational behavioral competencies.
  • The nurse provides direct care to patients across all ages, demonstrating competencies in Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Teamwork, and Technology/Informatics.
  • The nurse works closely with the interprofessional team to coordinate care and develop the necessary knowledge and skills for individualized patient care. The role requires consultation with experienced clinicians and feedback for growth, with an expectation to advance to the Clinical Nurse 2 level within 18 months.
Responsibilities

The nurse is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following competency domains:

  • Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Evaluating and integrating current evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences.

Credentials
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • BLS/CPR as a healthcare provider (Required)
  • Registered Nurse - PA (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing, or equivalent experience with less than 15 months of practice required
