University Physicians' Association is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Clinical New Patient Coordinator position for University Cancer Specialists (UCS) located at the UT Medical Center.

Schedule will be Monday-Friday 8a-4:30p

General Summary of Duties: The UCS New Patient Coordinator is a Licensed Practical Nurse who facilitates new patient visit coordination for UCS. This position plans, coordinates and facilitates the care of new patients in UCS to optimize the intake of patients and improve the throughput through the clinic.

Job duties include:

  • Monitor incoming referrals by fax, email, and telephone
  • Input accurate information into our EMR system for new and existing patients
  • Regularly communicate with our physicians, nurse practitioners, RNs, patients, and referring offices.
  • Handle sensitive information and abide by HIPAA rules
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is collected and verified
  • Understand the practice's policies and accepted insurances
  • Contact referring offices to gather missing or undocumented information
  • Contact appointments in scheduling book and notify patient/referring office
  • Keep detailed log of all incoming referrals
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • LPN Licensure required
  • Experience with medical terminology-oncology specific required
  • Ability to understand and determine oncology diagnoses required
  • Must be reliable and have excellent follow up skills
  • Must communicate professionally always
  • Must have the ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Empathetic with good listening skills
  • Ability to arrive on time for scheduled shifts
