Description

The physician is responsible for the care of patients in the hospital and clinics, as well as some advocacy and educational initiatives as determined by the Division Chief and/or the Center leadership.

Required Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment in the area of expertise.
Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for medical care.
Ability to evaluate patient problems independently and develop care plans.
Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss these with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Ability to supervise and train clinical professionals and students.
Commitment to maintaining quality, safety, and infection control standards.
Stay current with developments in subspecialty through Continuing Medical Education.
Knowledge of and compliance with legal and ethical standards in medical practice.

Required Licenses and Certifications

Board certification in secondary specialty (Preferred)

  • Oversee the medical care team and manage patient care for a specific population; improve continuity, customer service, and community partnerships through timely records and communication.
  • Participate in family-centered care and communicate professionally and compassionately; refer to specialists and ancillary services as needed.
  • Use chain of command and escalation policies appropriately.
  • Respond promptly and respectfully to team members and external providers; communicate expectations clearly and encourage questions from trainees.

  • Participate in CNMC's advocacy initiatives.
  • Contribute to public policy efforts promoting pediatric health and well-being.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment, prevention, and care techniques.

  • Engage in hospital/university-wide educational efforts.

  • Provide timely feedback and ensure proper orientation for trainees.

  • Complete all clinical documentation promptly and accurately.
