Job description

Job Summary

Provide individual, group, and family therapy services for justice‑involved youth. Clinicians work as collaborative team members on the Youth’s Child and Family Team, focusing on advocating for the youth and enhancing their ability to lead a healthy, effective life. The incumbent reports to the Juvenile Court’s Clinical Director and works under limited supervision while providing clinical oversight and peer mentoring to associate licensed staff. This is an on‑site position with no relocation assistance.

This position will remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the posting may close without notice once a candidate is selected. Hiring Range: $59,675.20 – $65,644.80.

Essential Duties & Functions

Execute individual, group, and family therapy with justice‑involved youth, formulating evidence‑based treatment plans and evaluating outcomes. Facilitate family participation and engagement through education and support groups. Consult with staff and participate in the development and monitoring of individual behavior plans for detained youth. Participate in Child and Family Team meetings and other staffing meetings as necessary. Prepare progress notes, reports, and other documentation. Provide consultation, education, and training to staff, parents, and community members, and may testify at hearings or in court. Apply current behavioral health practices and agency policies, maintain an objective and empathetic understanding of mental illnesses, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and relevant confidentiality laws.

Use clinical expertise to inform and improve service efficiency and quality. Establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of personnel contacted in the course of work. Provide clinical oversight and peer mentoring to coworkers to help achieve independent licensure.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in a behavioral health related field and at least two years of post‑master’s professional work experience with youth providing mental health or family therapy.
• Independent licensure through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (or equivalent approved by the Juvenile Court’s Clinical Director) at the time of appointment, with ongoing maintenance of licensure.
• Qualified to clinically supervise the work of associate‑level licensed staff in their path to independent licensure.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
• At least two years of experience providing direct therapy to youth ages 8‑17 is preferred.

Licenses and Certificates

The incumbent must be independently licensed through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (or equivalent approved by the Juvenile Court’s Clinical Director) at the time of appointment and must maintain current licensure at all times.

Physical/Sensory Items

Duties are performed primarily in an office environment, with occasional work in detention unit settings. The incumbent may lift 20 lbs. or less and will be exposed to high‑stress and potentially hostile situations. Non‑standard work hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
