Position Overview
Phoenix Health Center is dedicated to compassionate care for all. This Medical Director role provides clinical leadership, oversees patient care delivery, and ensures operational excellence within the team.
Accountabilities
- Maintain regular, consistent punctuality and attendance.
- Attend monthly meetings: leadership dyad, Medical Staff, Medical Advisory Committee, and Medical Quality Action Team.
- Schedule, set the agenda, and run monthly clinic provider meetings covering workflows, coverage, staffing, metrics, volume data, and organizational initiatives.
- Check in weekly with the clinic manager on relevant issues.
- Meet quarterly with each clinic provider to review goals, metrics, volume data, future plans, clinical concerns, and practice impacts.
- Conduct annual reviews and goal setting with each provider.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and disciplinary actions to providers when needed.
- Be available throughout the workday to providers for clinical and system questions.
- Serve as laboratory medical director for the site.
- Participate in provider recruitment and interviewing.
- Collaborate with the CMO on leadership growth, including at least annual training, seminar, or CME.
- Ensure provider coverage during all operational hours.
- Balance leadership responsibilities with direct care provision.
- Offer feedback to the CMO and other leaders on effective practices and improvement ideas.
- Consider operational impacts of committee decisions and voice early concerns.
- Communicate committee decisions to the team.
- Provide ongoing clinical supervision for patient care performed by clinicians.
- Engage in peer review and uphold behavioral standards as determined by the Medical Officer for Clinician Engagement.
- Identify challenges and solicit solutions from team members.
- Champion agreements on day‑to‑day operations such as coverage of out‑of‑clinic provider desktops, walk‑ins, and late patients.
- Fulfill duties listed in the provider job description.
- Ensure quality of care for the entire team’s patient panel.
- Ensure clinicians support concepts of team‑based care.
- Collaborate with the practice manager on operational and personnel issues.
- Complete assigned trainings via La Clínic’a learning module system (Relias) by the required due dates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Licensed independent practitioner with training as a physician, or advanced practice provider.
- Minimum of two years clinical experience with progressively developed leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders under stressful circumstances while exercising sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
- Work effectively both independently and in a team setting.
- Clear written and verbal communication to groups and individuals.
