Job summary

The University of Kentucky is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to provide direct patient care and clinical support to providers at UK Healthcare KY Clinic South, located off-campus in Lexington, KY.

Duties include obtaining patient histories, expediting flow, rooming patients, stocking supplies, navigating the electronic health record, scheduling follow-ups, assisting with medication requests and prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures with pharmacies, insurers and physicians.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the listed licenses/registrations or be eligible to obtain by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Assistant will provide direct patient care and clinical support to providers.
• Obtain patient medical history information, expedite patient flow, room patients, stock clinic with supplies, navigate electronic health record system, schedule and follow up with appointments, assist with medication fill requests, prior authorizations and scheduling of tests, procedures and consults.
• Communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians in a respectful manner.

Education

State Registered Nurse Assistant ( SRNA )

Certified Nursing Assistant ( CNA )

Registered Nurse (RN) nursing student

Emergency Medical Technician ( EMT ) / medic

Medical assistant program graduate

Licensed practical nursing program graduate

Clinical Services Technician CST III (UK)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
