Job summary

WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center are seeking a Medical Assistant to provide basic nursing skills and clinical support under supervision of physicians and registered nurses. You will greet patients, prepare exam rooms, assist with exams, manage referrals, and handle administrative tasks.

The role requires a high school diploma, MA program completion or 1 year of clinical experience, and BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one year of experience in a clinical setting.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms; prepares for physician visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
• Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies.
• Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
• Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
• Assists provider during patient examinations and procedures.
• Educates patients on follow up expectations.
• Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
• Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.
• Assists patients with completion of medical documentation.
• Assists with office administrative tasks including answering phones, taking messages, performing office tasks (copying, printing, data entry), and assisting with depositing cash and other closing duties.
