Job summary

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED preferred.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program required.
• BLS required, if not on hire, within 30 days of employment.
• Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
• Organizational skills are necessary.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English, required.
• Ability to communicate with nursing, administration, and physician teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic administrative medical assisting functions.
• Obtain patient history, chief complaint and vital signs as necessary.
• Schedule, coordinate, refer, and monitor appointments.
• Adhere to managed care policies and procedures.
• Answer and direct all phone calls appropriately.
• Register patients, confirm appointments, verify benefits.
• Keep rooms neat and stocked with supplies.
• Set up rooms for in-office procedures and assist with procedures.
• Assist physician with in-office procedures as needed.
• Ensure medical records from other physicians or hospital are obtained prior to scheduled visits.
