Job summary

Middle Tennessee Urology Specialists has an immediate need for a full-time Medical Assistant to join their clinical care team in Murfreesboro, TN. The role involves performing selected nursing and administrative duties, taking vital signs, documenting in EMR, and assisting with exams and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, strong patient communication skills, and experience with EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Performs selected nursing and administrative duties within the scope of practice.
• May escort patient to/from lobby, sub-waiting, hall/bench-waiting, CT/X-ray waiting.
• Assess every patient. Interview and document accurate information on all appropriate forms and in EMR on new and return patients as per protocol.
• Take vital signs, obtain current medications and allergies, and prepare patient for exam and/or treatment and document in EMR.

Responsibilities

• Order labs in EMR, as per physician’s orders; record documentation in patient’s chart/EMR.
• Maintain Tests Log Book and follow-up on all provider-ordered tests as per protocol.
• Provide all necessary information to scheduler, including treatment planners, imaging orders, and forms.
• Review chart for completeness before exam and post-exam; ensure all forms are in order.
• Provide patient education for all services, including medications and procedures. Record documentation in EMR.
• Administer injections and apply dressings as directed per physician; record documentation in EMR.
• Provide catheterization, bladder scans, and treatments including instillations; document in EMR.
• Prepare and fax prescriptions as directed; record documentation in EMR.
• Prepare and assist physician during exam/procedure; maintain clinical space.
• Maintain and manage clinic controlled substances, stock medications, and samples as needed.
• Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments per protocol.
• Complete all patient phone calls and assist triage nurse; document per protocol.
• Assist schedulers and No Show processes; help team to deliver high-quality care.
