Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System in Miami Beach is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist in examinations and treatments under physician direction, and to support patient care management through administrative functions.

The role requires clinical and clerical duties, including taking vital signs, preparing medications, immunizations, chart preparation, scheduling, and coordinating with the care team. Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred for patient interactions.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the eligible degrees/licenses/certifications listed.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred.
• Experience in a physician practice is a plus or 25+ years of MA experience if no credential available.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones, route calls and relay messages.
• Prepare and administer medications to patients as directed by provider.
• Prepare and administer immunizations for primary care sites.
• Communicate significant changes in patient conditions to clinicians.
• Maintain medical records and ensure documentation for appointments.
• Gather data for reports and provider approvals.
• Assist with billing, claims, and patient payment questions.
• Enter orders for labs, x-ray, and medications in EMR.
• Perform labs per provider instructions and regulatory requirements.
• Process refills and coordinate with clinicians as directed.
