Job summary

Cenikor Foundation in Tyler, TX is seeking an experienced clinical leader to oversee the therapeutic treatment program, supervise staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage funding requirements. The role requires strong counseling, documentation, and team development skills.

You will contribute to CQI initiatives, coordinate staff schedules, and ensure timely progress notes while upholding Cenikor's core values of service, professionalism, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, behavioral sciences or a closely related field is required.
  • Three years of counseling and program administration experience in addiction-related settings is preferred.
  • Strong counseling and documentation skills with ability to assess client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee clinical program administration and ensure regulatory compliance (DSHS, CARF, Cenikor policies).
  • Supervise clinical staff and manage counselor caseloads to meet licensure and funding requirements.
  • Coordinate staffing and training, and maintain personnel files and licensure requirements.
  • Ensure timely, compliant documentation and communications for appropriate level of care and billing.

SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure the clinical treatment program is effectively administered and meets regulatory requirements including DSHS and CARF as well as Cenikor policy and procedure. Participate in the facility Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.
  • Enforce program policies and guidelines, including therapeutic community concepts, as outlined by Senior Regional Director.
  • Supervise clinical staff and manage counselor caseloads to comply with licensure standards and funding requirements.
  • Manage clinical treatment team members with groups in therapeutic activities. Has oversight of interventions of disturbed/aggressive behavior as soon as signs of disruptive behavior are recognized and/or reported. Participates as an active member in treatment team meetings, advising others of observations and recommendations.
  • Identify services and support needed to address client problems and needs as identified in the client assessment.
  • Work with the FD and Human Resource Department for staffing, training, employee relations issues, performance evaluations and maintenance of personnel files, documentation and licensure requirements for facility staff.
  • Manage staffing schedules to maximize use of funding streams and ensure economic viability, increasing and decreasing hours to meet the needs of the client population.
  • Oversee and evaluate the recording of client progress in the clinical record and ensure documentation is legible and complies with documentation standards.
  • Ensure staff provides timely documentation and communication that meets the criteria for appropriate level of care according to clinical, medical, funding and billing.
  • Monitor authorizations and timeframes to ensure staff is providing treatment and treatment documentation according to billing/ insurance/ state requirements.
  • Participate as a team member in providing an optimum environment for client recovery.
  • Intervene as necessary on issues relating to client complaints, concerns and operational issues.
  • Provide initial training and orientation as well as on-going leadership and support to all members of the clinical department to ensure that they have the tools necessary to carry out their job responsibilities.
  • Ensure clinical staff completes all required reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure clinical staff remains informed of policy and regulatory changes and updates staff on changes as appropriate.
  • Ensure weekly training and observation is conducted and documented with all applicable clinical staff.
  • Oversee therapeutic schedule to ensure regularly scheduled individual and group sessions are provided; ensure clients are appropriately oriented to program components.
  • Participate in the facility CQI program including facilitating process improvement as necessary.
  • Ensure completion of Big 5 performance management tool for clinical staff by the required deadlines and use of SMART goals to support annual performance compensation review.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and Foundation matters and refer questionable matters to the Senior Regional Director/Vice President.
  • Assist Senior Regional Director in upholding the core principles of Cenikor's culture to help maintain a positive working environment for all team members.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and consistent with exempt functions as defined in this job description.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Experience in managing and developing a clinical team.
  • Experience in supervision and training of individual clinical staff.
  • Knowledgeable of insurance, Medicaid and state funding admissions criteria and timing.
  • Possess excellent counseling and documentation skills.
  • Experience if providing education and therapeutic counseling for individuals and for groups.
  • Experience with conducting an accurate assessment, identifying appropriate resources for client development and providing substance abuse counseling.
  • Understands and supports therapeutic community philosophy.
  • Possess good time management skills needed to meet aggressive deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Patience, perseverance, and resilience in a challenging environment.
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Presents a professional, positive image.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software required, including MS Outlook calendar.

Education:
  • Master's required in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences or closely related field.
Experience:
  • Three (3) years' experience in counseling and program administration relating to addiction.
