Position Summary

The Clinical Manager is accountable for the delivery of high-quality nursing care and for the administrative management of a regionally located network of CMG clinics (all specialties) and the associated clinical staff for all locations assigned, this would include no less than 8 clinics. Fulfills all duties and responsibilities associated with the Clinical Manager position. The Clinical Manager plans, directs, coordinates, and controls the work of the professional and para-nursing personnel in their assigned clinic(s). The Clinical Manager is also responsible for daily operations and oversight for clinical services in all assigned clinics. The Clinical Manager reports to the Clinical Services department Leadership Team and collaborates as needed on all clinical service directives.

Responsibilities
  • Selects, trains, orients, develops, and evaluates performance of the clinical staff. Ensures staffing mix and allocation of staff in all practice locations in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement initiatives, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory standards, federal and state guidelines, and nursing standards and practices. Responsible for working with on-site clinical supervisor(s) to maintain compliance of all regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Develops departmental budgets in conjunction with the Practice Leader. Administers operations in accordance with budgeted parameters.
  • Maintains operational reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Coordinates and reports outcome of clinical activities performed on behalf of the patient.
  • Attends meetings and actively participates on nursing committees and interdisciplinary committees, as appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains communication between the clinical staff, medical staff and ancillary departments for the purposes of problem solving and quality improvement. Utilizes appropriate lines of communication within the facility.
  • Ensures establishment and implementation of Practice-wide goals and objectives are in alignment with the facility and system.
  • Promotes a safe environment that allows for the delivery of high-quality patient care utilizing evidenced based practices.
  • Protects patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
  • Supervises, institutes, and evaluates clinical interventions and documentation.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age‑specific needs of the population served.
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective.
  • Facilitates professional development of staff with accountability for staff retention.
  • Local travel between assigned clinics is scheduled and maintained based on clinic needs.
  • Determines the appropriate indicators to achieve a successful team. Monitors these indicators and provides consistent, frequent feedback to the Office Manager and team members regarding performance relating to goals, objectives, and benchmarks.
  • Establishes and evaluates core competencies for all clinical team members.
  • Identifies learning needs of clinical team members and works towards meeting those needs.
  • Approves payroll preparation and monitors sick time, overtime, and paid time off of clinical team members in conjunction with local Clinical Supervisor.
  • Monitors customer satisfaction results along with Practice Administrators and Office Managers.
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the departmental quality assurance plan in conjunction with the Director of Operations and the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Works closely with the VP of Operations and VP of Clinical Services to develop, review, and revise policies and procedures for the department to assure compliance with Safety, CLIA, OSHA, Infection Control and other regulatory/accrediting agencies, and any applicable state laws.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Education

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. P ossession of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field preferred.

Minimum Experience

Three (3) years of recent clinical experience required. Two (2) years of recent leadership/managerial experience preferred. Certification or experience is area of practice specialty/focus preferred.

Licensure Requirements

Must have and maintain Tennessee state registered nurse license. Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
