Job summary

Lifepoint Rehabilitation is seeking a Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist at Kindred Hospital - Houston Northwest to educate communities, build referral networks, and drive census growth. You’ll partner with physicians, nurses and case managers to coordinate admissions and services.

Ideal candidates have healthcare exposure, strong communication, a valid driver’s license, and a bachelor’s degree in health, business, or marketing; clinical liaison or sales experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • At least a 2-year degree; a bachelor’s in health-related, business or marketing is preferred.
  • Previous clinical liaison/marketing/sales experience is preferred.
  • Current license to practice in accordance with state licensure act.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Experience in a health care setting with physicians, discharge planners, case managers, and social workers is strong.
  • Clinical experience is preferred.
  • Approximate external liaisons in market territory: ~80%.

Responsibilities

  • Educate the community on rehabilitation to develop a census through face-to-face contacts.
  • Develop business based on the strategic goals of the rehabilitation program.
  • Face-to-face connections with referral sources to increase census.
  • Identify barriers to the admission process and create solutions with the program director.
  • Review patient charts and understand test results, therapy evaluations, and patient medical history.
  • Interact with patients, families, and providers to gather additional clinical information.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments for potential admission into the rehabilitation program.
  • Complete detailed Pre-Admission Screens per facility policies, Lifepoint policies, and payer requirements.
  • Schedule meetings and arrange services for medical professionals including referral sources, doctors, nurses, social workers.
  • Provide patient updates to physicians, payers, case managers, and social workers.
  • Maintain solid relationships with referral sources by providing after-sales service.
  • Other duties as assigned

How you'll contribute

AClinical Rehabilitation Specialist who excels in this role:


  • Educate the community on rehabilitation to develop a census through face-to-face contacts

  • Develop business based on the strategic goals of the rehabilitation program

  • Face-to-face connections within territory to build relationships with referral sources to increase census

  • Identifies barriers to the admission process and creates solutions with the assistance of the program director

  • Ability to review patient medical charts and understand test results, therapy evaluations, pre-existing conditions, and have a general medical knowledge of the patient

  • Ability to clearly and professionally interact with patients, families, and healthcare providers while gathering additional clinical information and past history

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify patients for potential admission into the rehabilitation program

  • Complete detailed Pre-Admission Screens, as applicable, according to facility policies and procedures, Lifepoint policies and procedures, and payer requirements, as applicable.

  • Schedules meetings and arrange in services for medical professionals including potential and existing referral sources, doctors, nurses, social workers and other health care professional.

  • Provide patient updates to physicians, payers, case managers, social workers and other relevant persons.

  • Maintain solid working relationships with new and existing referral sources by providing excellent after-sales service.

  • Other duties as assigned

What we're looking for


  • At a minimum, should hold a 2-year degree. A graduate holding a four-year degree from a college program with a bachelor's degree in a health related, business or marketing area of concentration, nursing or therapy preferred.

  • Previous clinical liaison/marketing/sales experience preferred

  • Applicable and current license to practice in accordance with the state licensure act

  • Other professional licensure considered based on experience and training as outlined in the state licensure act

  • Valid driver's license and own reliable transportation required

  • A track record of successful experience in a health care setting, strong interpersonal skills, and experience working with physicians, nursing management, discharge planners, case managers, and social workers

  • Clinical experience is preferred

  • Approximate time of external liaisons to be in the market territory: 80%
