Position Summary:

The Clinical Lead Therapist combines an active therapy caseload with responsibility for supporting the clinical team’s performance, development, and daily operations. This role serves as the primary connection between therapists and practice leadership, providing individualized coaching, clinical mentorship, and practical solutions that support exceptional client care and clinician success.

The weekly schedule includes 32 available therapy appointment slots, with a minimum of 25 clients seen, and eight protected hours for clinical leadership. Leadership time is dedicated to therapist coaching, team operations, problem-solving, and collaboration with practice leadership.

A central focus of this role is helping therapists consistently achieve six or more sessions per day while maintaining high standards of care and supporting sustainable performance.

  • Respond appropriately to client crises and assist with safety planning as needed.
Team Leadership & Coaching
  • Hold structured individual coaching meetings with each therapist weekly or every other week.
  • Identify barriers affecting clinician performance, including scheduling challenges, cancellations, documentation demands, caseload complexity, and clinical confidence.
  • Provide individualized coaching, tools, and support to help clinicians meet performance expectations.
  • Monitor progress and adjust coaching strategies to address each clinician’s needs.
  • Build trust, encourage open communication, and support professional growth.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for routine clinician coaching and communication with practice leadership.

  • Provide consultation on clinical cases and treatment planning.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new clinical staff.

  • Identify clinical, operational, and team concerns through coaching conversations, performance data, and direct observation.
  • Develop improvement plans with clear steps, timelines, and expected outcomes.
  • Present proposed changes to practice leadership for approval before implementation.
  • Communicate approved changes, support implementation, and monitor results.
  • Monitor therapist schedules, attendance, workflow efficiency, and appointment utilization.
  • Participate in staff meetings, case consultations, and leadership meetings.
  • Support implementation of practice policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
  • Assist with quality assurance and client care initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Performance Expectations
  • Monitor individual and team productivity, supporting progress toward six or more sessions per therapist per day.
  • Use clinical quality measures to identify training needs and opportunities to improve care.
  • Monitor clinician engagement, satisfaction, and retention, addressing concerns or escalating them to leadership as appropriate.
