Description

Position Summary

Flyland Recovery Network is seeking an experienced, independently licensed Clinical Lead to provide clinical leadership, oversight, and support within our behavioral health treatment program serving individuals with primary Mental Health (MH) disorders, primary Substance Use Disorders (SUD), and co-occurring conditions.

Active, independent clinical licensure in the State of Ohio is required. Candidates must possess an LISW or LPCC license and demonstrate clinical competency in treating BOTH mental health and substance use disorder populations.

The Clinical Lead serves as a licensed clinical resource for therapists and other clinical team members, supporting clinical decision‑making, treatment planning, patient safety, documentation quality, and adherence to established clinical standards.

This position works closely with the Clinical Director and is expected to provide designated clinical leadership coverage during the Clinical Director's absence, within the Clinical Lead's authorized scope of practice and organizational responsibilities.

The ideal candidate demonstrates sound clinical judgment, strong leadership capabilities, and experience supporting multidisciplinary treatment teams across behavioral health levels of care.

Requirements
Clinical Leadership and Oversight
  • Provide day-to-day clinical leadership, consultation, and guidance to primary therapists and other clinical staff.
  • Support the clinical treatment needs of patients receiving services for primary mental health disorders, primary substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions.
  • Serve as a designated licensed clinical resource and provide appropriate coverage for the Clinical Director during scheduled absences or as assigned.
  • Assist with complex clinical cases, diagnostic considerations, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and clinical decision‑making.
  • Support clinical staff in evaluating patient progress, barriers to treatment, and continuing‑care needs.
  • Facilitate clinical case consultations and interdisciplinary treatment discussions.
  • Assist with caseload distribution and clinical coverage needs.
  • Maintain an assigned patient caseload and provide individual, group, and family therapy as required.
Clinical Quality and Documentation
  • Review clinical assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other clinical documentation for accuracy, quality, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Support adherence to applicable clinical documentation requirements, organizational policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback and education to clinicians regarding clinical documentation and treatment quality.
  • Identify clinical documentation deficiencies and assist with corrective‑action initiatives.
  • Support internal chart audits, performance improvement activities, and regulatory or accreditation readiness.
  • Promote clinical documentation that accurately reflects patient presentation, interventions, progress, and medical necessity.
Patient Care and Safety
  • Provide clinical guidance regarding psychiatric symptoms, substance use concerns, co-occurring disorders, and patient acuity.
  • Assist with suicide risk assessment processes, safety planning, crisis intervention, and appropriate escalation of patient safety concerns.
  • Support individualized treatment planning and clinically appropriate transitions between levels of care.
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing, case management, utilization review, and other departments to promote continuity of care.
  • Ensure significant clinical concerns are promptly communicated to the appropriate leadership and treatment‑team members.
Clinical Team Development
  • Support the orientation, onboarding, and clinical development of therapists and other clinical staff.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and clinical consultation to strengthen clinical competency and treatment effectiveness.
  • Assist with identifying clinical training needs and opportunities for professional development.
  • Promote ethical practice, professional boundaries, effective communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Provide clinical/work supervision when assigned and appropriately qualified under applicable Ohio requirements.
Required Qualifications

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Active, unrestricted Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license. Independent licensure is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience treating individuals with primary Mental Health disorders AND primary Substance Use Disorders, including co-occurring psychiatric and substance use conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide independent clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and therapeutic services within the individual's authorized professional scope.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric conditions, substance use disorders, evidence-based interventions, clinical documentation, and patient safety practices.
  • Ability to provide clinical leadership, consultation, and guidance to multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Ability to assume designated clinical leadership responsibilities during the Clinical Director's absence.
  • Strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, professional communication, and commitment to ethical patient care.
  • Ability to maintain applicable professional licensure, continuing education, and regulatory requirements.
  • Successful completion of required background screening and pre‑employment requirements.
Please Note:

Candidates holding only dependent or associate‑level licenses, including Ohio LPC or LSW credentials without independent licensure, do not meet the minimum licensure qualifications for this position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a Clinical Lead, Lead Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, or comparable clinical leadership position.
  • Experience in residential treatment, inpatient behavioral health, PHP, IOP, or other structured behavioral health treatment environments.
  • Experience supporting programs that serve both mental health and substance use disorder populations.
  • Familiarity with ASAM Criteria, LOCUS, level‑of‑care determinations, utilization review, and medical necessity documentation.
  • Experience with clinical quality assurance, chart audits, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement.
  • Ohio clinical supervision designation (LISW‑S or LPCC‑S) preferred but not required.
Clinical Supervision and Scope of Practice:

The Clinical Lead must maintain active independent clinical licensure and practice within the professional scope authorized by the State of Ohio. Formal training supervision toward professional licensure may only be provided when the Clinical Lead meets the applicable supervisory designation and regulatory requirements. Designation as Clinical Lead does not independently authorize activities beyond the individual's professional qualifications, licensure, or permitted scope of practice.

Work Environment:

The Clinical Lead works in a multidisciplinary behavioral health environment serving patients with varying psychiatric, behavioral, and substance use treatment needs. The position requires professional judgment, flexibility, collaboration, and the ability to respond appropriately to complex clinical and patient safety situations.
