Job summary

Howard University invites applications for the Clinical Legal Director role to lead the Clinical Law Center’s 10 live-client clinics and to advance student growth and client outcomes in a rigorous academic environment. The position requires a JD with at least 6 years of relevant legal experience and a demonstrated commitment to social justice and diversity.

Qualifications

JD with at least 6 years of relevant legal experience.
Experience as attorney or legal director in a legal services organization or Clinical Law Center is preferred.
Experience with law practice management is preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage the Clinical Law Center operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Improve policies, handbooks, procedures, systems and trainings to enhance client outcomes and student learning.
Support clinical faculty in docket management, pedagogy development, file management/retention and client communication.
Collaborate with the Director and staff to raise the program's profile and impact.
Assist with grant writing, budgeting, and external communications; coordinate with the Assistant Director.
