Job summary

Howard University School of Law seeks a Supervising Attorney for the Civil Rights Clinic to lead and supervise student attorneys and manage a docket of civil rights matters. The role focuses on complex litigation, teaching life, and curriculum collaboration within the Clinical Law Center.

The candidate will oversee student work, draft filings, and coordinate with co-counsel while engaging in advocacy and training opportunities in a dynamic law school clinic setting.

Qualifications

• JD required with bar admission in at least one state.
• Minimum 3 years of civil rights litigation experience; 3+ preferred.
• Experience supervising students in a clinical setting.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise student attorneys within the Civil Rights Clinic.
• Manage docket of Civil Rights cases and draft pleadings, briefs, and related tasks.
• Collaborate on curriculum development, course design, teaching and related responsibilities.
• Manage external relationships, including with co-counsel.
• Maintain Clinic data and client files; support student career development.
