Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our RIA team in Burlington, NC. The position offers a Sunday to Thursday night shift (8:00 pm–4:30 am) and involves performing routine and complex laboratory procedures to support patient care.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science (or MLS) and has at least 1 year of lab experience, with ASCP/AMT certification preferred. We value accuracy, teamwork, and safety in a fast-paced lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science or MLS.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or MLS certification.
• Ability to pass color blindness test.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing per SOPs.
• Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation.
• Make technical testing decisions and solve problems.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate test results to support patient care.
• Maintain quality control and preventive maintenance.
• Assist with processing of specimens as needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and PPE use.

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our RIA team located in Burlington, NC!

Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 8:00pm-4:30am

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
