Job summary

Labcorp in Tampa, FL is seeking a Technologist to join our team. Work schedule: Tue–Sat, 6:00 am–2:30 pm. Responsibilities include verifying specimens, performing tests, maintaining instruments, and ensuring accurate results for quality patient care.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science or Medical Technology and a Molecular MT FL license. Preferred: 3+ months of clinical lab testing and ASCP/AMT certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science or clinical lab field is required.
• Molecular MT FL license is required.

Responsibilities

• Determine acceptability of specimens for testing per SOPs.
• Perform routine and complex procedures according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate test results to ensure quality patient care.
• Perform preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies.
• Assist with processing of specimens as needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and PPE compliance.

LabCorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team in Tampa, FL.

Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 6:00 am -2:30 pm

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• Molecular MT FL License

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
