Job description

Are you an experienced Clinical Lab Professional? Are you looking to embark on a new challenge in your career, or start your career in Clinical Lab Science? If so, Labcorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team as a Technologist - Microbiology in Miami, FL.

Work Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with alternating weekends.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental SOPs.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with specimen processing when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  • Florida Medical Technologist License is required.
  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is highly preferred.
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
  • High attention to detail, with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision test.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or different shifts as needed.

This position requires successful completion of medical surveillance testing, including TB testing, proof of immunity or vaccination for Hepatitis B, Varicella, MMR, and color vision testing if applicable. Labcorp will consider reasonable accommodations for medical or religious reasons.
