Job summary

Labcorp in Metairie, LA is seeking a Technologist to join our team. The Technologist will prepare specimens, communicate with client staff, and help troubleshoot issues while maintaining workflow and quality standards.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or medical technology and have at least one year of clinical laboratory experience, with proficiency in data entry and LIS systems.

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team in Metairie, LA.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (evening shift and weekend rotations may be required)

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Communicate effectively with client office staff
• Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory experience

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
