Job summary

Rochester Regional Health's Clifton Springs Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform clinical laboratory analyses on blood, urine, body fluids and tissues in the Laboratory Services department. The role involves 40 hours per week with 8-hour shifts (2:30p-11:00p or 10:30p-7:00a) and every-third-weekend rotation, following established procedures and turnaround times.

This position requires NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, with provisional holders needing full

Qualifications

• NYS Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist credential required.
• Provisional/limited permit holders must obtain full license within 24 months of hire.
• ASCP certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Correctly performs testing in an accurate and timely manner.
• Interprets and correlates test results with patient history and diagnosis.
• Communicates stat and critical lab results and instrument malfunctions to physicians and units.
• Performs QC, routine and advanced maintenance and instrument troubleshooting activities.
• Prepares reagents and maintains inventory with cost containment.
• Maintains knowledge of computer functions for ordering, performing and reporting tests.
• Teaches in the Medical Laboratory Science Program and Lab rotations as called upon.
• Meets all regulatory lab requirements consistently.
• Performs any additional duties as requested by the manager.
