Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team in Tampa, FL. The position supports a 4:00 am–2:00 pm schedule Wednesday through Saturday and involves routine to complex testing in a high-volume laboratory.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science or Medical Technology, possess a Hematology MT state license, and bring some clinical lab experience; ASCP/AMT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Hematology MT State License.
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience (preferred).
• ASCP or AMT certification (preferred).
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.
