- Prepare and stain slides, mount specimens, and examine human cell samples under a microscope to identify signs of cancer, hormonal imbalances, and other pathological abnormalities.
- Conduct advanced and specialized analyses, including microscopic screening of both gynecological and non-gynecological samples.
- Process specimens using standardized laboratory protocols and techniques. Categorize cells based on established criteria and determine if further evaluation by a pathologist is required.
- Proficient in both conventional cytology and liquid-based cytology techniques.
- Accurately document specimen information and test results in the laboratory information system.
- Ensure individual case processing times meet laboratory performance standards.
- Engage in continuous professional development through workshops, seminars, conferences, and relevant professional organizations.
- Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, and administrative guidelines.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety standards, OSHA regulations, and maintain compliance with ISO 15189 accreditation requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Relevant experience, ideally with certification from the International Academy of Cytology (IAC).
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under time constraints while meeting turnaround-time expectations.
- Strong team orientation with excellent collaboration skills.
