Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Cytogenetics (FISH)

Work Schedule

Tuesday - Saturday, 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Responsibilities

• Perform tissue culture, slide making, banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing.
• Assess specimen quality and determine acceptability for testing.
• Follow SOPs for routine and complex procedures.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Make technical decisions and resolve testing issues.
• Prepare and evaluate reagents and controls.
• Report accurate results promptly for patient care.
• Maintain equipment and quality control documentation.
• Manage supplies and assist with specimen processing as needed.
• Ensure a safe work environment with proper PPE usage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological sciences, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field meeting CLIA & State requirements.
• At least 1 year of clinical lab testing experience or a Bachelor’s in Cytogenetics/MLS.
• Preferred: Experience in cytogenetics/FISH; certification by NCA in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG); ASCP or AMT certification.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; proficient with computers and lab info systems.
• Attention to detail, strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to pass color vision screening.
• Flexibility for overtime or shift changes based on needs.
