Job summary

FlexStaff is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist for the Chemistry Department in a leading Queens hospital. This is a full-time, direct hire position with a night shift from 12:00AM to 8:00AM and rotating holidays/weekends.

Responsibilities include quality control, advising staff, managing supplies and equipment, and preparing reagents and media. Requires NYSED CLT permit and 1 year of experience in a clinical lab or blood bank.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYSED permit for CLT (clinical laboratory technologist).
• At least 1 year of full-time clinical laboratory experience.
• Willingness to work night shifts and weekends as required.

REQUIREMENTS

• Valid clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist limited or provisional permit issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
• One (1) year of full-time experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains a program of quality control and participates in a program of quality assurance.
• Advises staff on appropriate methods and techniques.
• Oversees the ordering and maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment as well as the preparation, packaging, labeling, and standardization of laboratory media and reagents; and records results and pertinent data of prepared products or oversees this function.
• Prepares labels, packages, and standardizes laboratory media, reagents, controls and specimens for use in analyses.
• Prepares work orders for laboratory repairs.
• Assists in developing and revising laboratory policies and procedures.
• Conducts tests and/or other complex analyses.
• Designs and maintains charts, logs, and other records.
• Testifies in court or other proceedings as an expert witness.
• May prepare correspondence and narrative/statistical reports.
• May participate in or supervise the preparation, administration, and rating of laboratory proficiency test programs.
