Job summary

LabCorp is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team at our client in Wilson, NC. The position follows a Monday–Thursday schedule with Friday half-day, focusing on specimen acceptability, testing procedures, instrument troubleshooting and quality control to ensure accurate results for patient care.

Minimum qualifications include an associate’s degree in a chemical or biological science or related field, with 3+ months of lab experience and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology Phlebotomy is required
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience ASCP or AMT certification
• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Work Schedule: Monday - Thur, 8:00am - 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm
