Labcorp in Johnson City, TN seeks a Laboratory Technician to join a team performing routine and complex laboratory procedures. The role requires assisting with specimen processing, testing, and instrument maintenance in a fast-paced clinical lab environment.

The position supports a Monday–Friday 2:00pm–10:30pm schedule with alternating weekends, offering the chance to contribute to quality patient testing and results within Labcorp’s global network.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in a chemical or biological science, or clinical laboratory science/medical technology.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs.
• Experience with laboratory information systems is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Assess specimen acceptability according to SOPs.
• Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper function.
• Make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving.
• Prepare and evaluate reagents or controls for tests.
• Document and report test results accurately and timely.

Laboratory Technician

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm and alternating weekend

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

• Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
• Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
