Job summary

Jasper Memorial Hospital in Monticello, GA seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to coordinate and supervise all Clinical Laboratory functions, including staffing, training, scheduling and budgeting to promote cost containment and patient care.

Responsibilities include ensuring test accuracy, managing daily lab operations, updating procedures, training staff, hiring and evaluating employees, and collaborating with pathologists and other departments to support safe, quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry.
• State licensure as a Medical Technologist or one of the following specialties: Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Serology, or Microbiology.
• Certification preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Proficiency in use of laboratory equipment and testing.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains a system to check the accuracy of tests and test results.
• Staff scheduling to ensure tests are carried out promptly.
• Updates policy and procedures manuals.
• Provides inservices for staff.
• Responsible for accurate quality control documentation.
• Interviews, hires, terminates and evaluates employees according to hospital policy and procedure.
• Supervises daily operations of the Clinical Laboratory including maintaining PAR.
• Evaluates new testing methods and new instrumentation before implementation in the Clinical Laboratory.
