Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (GS-12) to serve as a Technical Specialist. You will provide expert consultation on complex tests, develop policies, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards within the laboratory.

This role requires leadership in testing strategies and staff training. You will oversee advanced assays, mentor staff, and collaborate with pathologists to ensure accurate results and adherence to VA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of concepts, principles, and methods in medical laboratory technology.
• Understanding regulatory/accrediting requirements and medico-legal considerations.
• Ability to train staff and assess competency of personnel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Technical Specialist CLS, advising on complex tests and testing methods.
• Develop policies, precedents, and regulatory/licensing requirements for the lab.
• Provide guidance and technical direction to the laboratory section and staff.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with VA standards.
