Job summary

WellStar Health System seeks a qualified Medical Technologist. You will perform clinical laboratory testing under supervision, maintain equipment, and conduct quality assurance activities while potentially mentoring team members.

The role requires current certifications and a minimum of one year of lab experience, with strong data entry and proficiency in Excel/Word. Epic and 3M experience are preferred, and compliance with safety standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Medical Technology or Bachelor’s Medical Science or Bachelor’s General or Master’s in a related field preferred.
• All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
• Minimum 1 year laboratory experience preferred.
• Proficient in computer skills including Excel and Word; basic data entry.
• Epic and 3M experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains acceptable accuracy in patient, quality assurance, proficiency, and competency testing.
• Meets department standards for correct patient or specimen identification.
• Meets department standards for error rate in testing or reporting results.
• Documents investigations and interpretation of QA failures or trends.
• Earns acceptable scores in proficiency testing and personnel competency testing.
• Maintains instrumentation for testing.
• Analyzes and reports lab data within turnaround times and productivity standards.
• Interprets lab data in clinical context and relationships to findings.
• Hand-offs information per procedures and chain of command.
• Participates in performance improvements and inspection readiness.
