Job summary

CLS Connect seeks a skilled imaging analyst to collaborate with Laboratory and Medical Directors to ensure high-quality testing in compliance with CAP/COLA/CLIA standards. The role focuses on microscopy, image analysis, and rare-event detection within a CLIA-regulated lab in Houston.

You will perform multi-channel fluorescence image analysis, maintain audit-ready documentation, and support imaging workflow improvements while training staff and collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Life Sciences required.
  • ASCP certification preferred.
  • 1+ year in a CLIA-regulated environment.
  • Experience in Cytology, Histopathology, Immunocytochemistry or Diagnostic Imaging strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tumor cell enumeration and analysis using multi-channel fluorescence imaging.
  • Interpret fluorescent images across multiple channels, distinguishing true signals from background, debris, or nonspecific staining.
  • Apply standardized enumeration rules and reporting criteria for rare-event detection.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation of test results and workflows.
  • Escalate unusual findings and collaborate with scientific teams on interpretation.
  • Participate in inter-operator reproducibility assessments and quality control investigations related to imaging performance.
  • Review images per batching schedules and laboratory throughput goals.
  • Support testing operations by providing timely, accurate, and high-quality analysis results.
  • Assist in training and mentoring laboratory personnel in imaging techniques and analysis workflows.

Job description

This position collaborates with the Laboratory and Medical Directors to ensure high-quality laboratory testing in compliance with established policies, procedures, and CAP/COLA/CLIA standards. It also works closely with the Director of Operations to support and advance strategic business initiatives.

Location: Houston, TX
Shift: Monday to Friday (Days)
Pay: up to $120,000

Responsibilities
Microscopy & Image Analysis
  • Perform tumor cell enumeration and analysis using multi-channel fluorescence imaging.
  • Interpret fluorescent images across multiple channels, distinguishing true cellular signals from background, debris, or nonspecific staining.
  • Apply standardized enumeration rules and reporting criteria for rare-event detection.
Quality & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation of test results and workflows.
  • Escalate unusual or borderline findings and collaborate with scientific teams on interpretation.

Workflow Support
  • Review images in accordance with batching schedules and laboratory throughput goals.
  • Support testing operations by providing timely, accurate, and high-quality analysis results.
  • Assist in training and mentoring laboratory personnel in imaging techniques and analysis workflows.
  • Experience with fluorescent microscopy and multi-channel image analysis.
  • Ability to interpret cellular morphology and perform rare-event detection.
  • Proficiency with image analysis software (any professional platform acceptable, e.g., Bioview Encore and/or DeNovo, Zeiss, Olympus, Celigo).
  • Understanding of clinical laboratory operations and high complexity testing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve operational and technical issues and implement workflow improvements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex data.
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices, documentation standards, and quality systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage staff and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications

BS/MS Degree in Life Sciences

Relevant experience in Cytology, Histopathology, Immunocytochemistry or Diagnostic Imaging Strongly Preferred

Must have 1+ years in a CLIA regulated environment (Hard Requirement)
