Job summary

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science.
• BS in a chemical, physical, biological science.
• No laboratory work experience required, recent graduate acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Performs all test procedures accurately as described in the procedure manual.
• Verifies specimen identification, processes orders, adheres to established turnaround times, documents calls, and verifies critical values.
• Follows established quality control procedures, and documents corrective actions as necessary.
• Performs and records all scheduled preventive maintenance procedures. Performs basic troubleshooting and calls appropriate hotline when necessary.
• Follows all ChristianaCare and laboratory safety policies. Reviews laboratory safety manual annually.
• Cooperates with leadership and co-workers and maintains a good rapport with other departments. Presents a professional, well-groomed appearance at all times. Answers the telephone courteously and promptly.
• Participates in quality assurance as directed by section leadership.
• Attend departmental Inservice and staff meetings as required.
• Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
• Performs other related duties as required.
