Job summary

Le CYR Consulting seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to examine and analyze blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells, then relay test results to physicians. You will operate microscopes, counters, and high-precision lab equipment, and cross-match blood for transfusion.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science, clinical lab internship completion, and national MT/CLS/MLS certification, with prior healthcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science is required.
• Completion of a clinical laboratory program or internship through a hospital-based program.
• National certification as MT/CLS/MLS is required.
• Previous experience in a health care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examining and analyzing blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells
• Relaying test results to physicians
• Utilizing microscopes, cell counters, and other high-precision lab equipment
• Cross matching blood for transfusion
• Monitoring patient outcomes
• Performing differential cell counts looking for abnormal cells to aid in the diagnosis of anemia and leukemia
• Establishing quality assurance programs to monitor and ensure the accuracy of test results
• Overseeing the work of a medical laboratory technician
